Personal Care Assistance

Personal care is our specialty! For those who need help with sensitive, often private activities of daily living, VNP offers caregivers who have been specially trained to provide the following gentle, hands-on assistance:

• Bathing
• Dressing
• Grooming, including shaving, hair care and oral hygiene
• Mobility
• Transferring (such as from bed to a chair) and proper positioning
• Toileting and incontinence care, including assistance with bedpan, bedside commode and emptying urine collection and colostomy bags
• Medication reminders for medications that can be administered by the customer; the caregiver can cue the customer when it’s time to take the medication and can assist with reading labels and opening containers

Personal Care Assistants can also perform light housekeeping duties such as dusting, dishwashing, vacuuming, linen changes, emptying trash, planning and preparing meals according to the customer’s preferences and dietary restrictions, cleaning up after meals and other tasks directly related to the care of the customer. They may accompany the individual to assist in accessing community resources, shopping and related activities, and may also help with exercise and ambulation after being instructed by the customer and/or family.

Personal Care Assistants are available for 2-24 hours daily, including weekends and holidays, and also on an intermittent basis for visits lasting 60 minutes or less when only limited personal care is needed.
